The APF Foresight Evaluation Task Force is pleased to provide its Report, Building Field and Foresight Practitioner Evaluation Capacity. Drawing on the broad and deep expertise of 24 Task Force members—foresight practitioners, evaluators, and corporate and public sector representatives— the Report provides insights into evaluating the quality of foresight and its impacts, and recommendations for evaluation capacity-building resources. UNESCO Participation Program has funded several WFSF projects.
Joint WFSF-UNESCO publications include: "The Futures of Culture" Series (1990-1993) by Eleonora B. Masini, WFSF President (1981-1990).
World Futures Learning Lab (LEALA) is a UNESCO Participation Program project approved in 2012-2013 with pilots in DR Congo, Cairo and Penang, and approved in 2014-2015 for pilots in Haiti, Mexico and the Philippines.

Futures Publications – Journals

As the academic field of futures studies has developed several academic journals have been founded, the first being Futures: The Journal of Policy, Planning and Futures Studies, first published in 1968.

There are several peer-reviewed academic and professional journals dedicated to reporting, discussing and analysing issues of relevance to futures researchers, practitioners and students. There are also some futures-oriented magazines below. The lists are arranged alphabetically.

HUMAN FUTURES: A Publication of the World Futures Studies Federation

WFSF has published a magazine since its inception - since even before the organisation was formally constituted. The WFSF magazine has gone through several iterations, changing its name and style with the changing times over nearly five decades. We have just launched a new version of the WFSF magazine.

HUMAN FUTURES was launched on 23 December 2016 and is a fresh & contemporary, interactive, online magazine. Each issue will be loosely themed, with the first issue featuring some really exciting and innovative futures work by several of our younger WFSF members. Let us know if you want to contribute.

The Australian Foresight Institute Monograph Series was published from 2003 to 2006. In addition to the soft cover edition shown here the series was collected and re-published in a hard cover library edition in 2007. These publications were part of a research program on Creating and Sustaining Social Foresight that was supported by the Pratt Foundation, Melbourne, to whom grateful acknowledgment is due. Foresight in Everyday Life – Peter Hayward In the preface of his book, The Foresight Principle , Richard Slaughter describes the present reality of planet earth as one of declining natural systems and a human species on the edge of survival. He goes on to say that ‘however the human race chooses to deal with this difficult time the answer will, I feel, be bound to involve foresight’.1 Webster’s dictionary defines foresight as, first, ‘an act or the power of foreseeing, prescience’, second, ‘an act of looking forward’, and third, ‘action in reference to the future, prudence’. FuturePod gathers voices from the international field of Futures and Foresight. Launched on 18 December 2018 by the WFSF Full member, Peter HAYWARD and his colleagues, they are bringing this podcast series to the world. With an initial focus on Melbourne-based practitioners, they gradually expanded their use of computer-based recording technology to allow a global reach for the interviews. Futures Studies Education – Introduction

There are dozens of universities around the world that teach courses in futures studies. Courses cover the spectrum from short courses & single units to Masters Degree courses and PhDs. FFRC in Turku, Finland joined with the Turku School of Economics to offer Masters and PhDs from 2013.

Educational futures at the school level includes both introducing futures concepts and methods to school children, and also speculative research about what alternative approaches to school education might better suit the 21st century than the current industrial models of school education.
